Slacking,..

I have been slacking on posting new stuff.
A lot of things have happened in the last month (Thanksgiving, coast trip, waking, and many first birthdays). I will try to post a few sequential posts that are post-dated to catch up...
Sorry...

Our First Year

More teeth!

V now has 3 teeth on top (the 4th is nowhere in sight). And almost 4 on the bottom. The 4th, to the right (when I look at her) of the central incisors is almost all the way in. Plus, I think she may be getting a bottom molar!
Poor girl has been sleeping really poorly. And I took her to the doctor to rule out any medical issues, so I guess it must just be the teeth. It must hurt getting 2, possibly 3 teeth at once!

VIolet takes her first steps!!!!

It is official Violet can walk. She walked between Wind and I at least 15 times today. Sometimes 2 or 3 steps... sometimes 6 or 7!
She might need to hone her skills a bit more before she does a marathon or 20 mile hike, but we are VERY proud!

11 months old

Dearest Baby V,
You are a hilarious person (see video below). I look forward to every day I have with you. I can't believe you are already 11 months old. One more month and you will be a whole year old. You have grown so much. :) I won't reminisce too much... I'll save that for next month.
I hope we can continue to make each other laugh for 100 years (or more).
So much love,
Your Mom

4 Teeth

She has 4 big ol' teeth with a 5th (her top left lateral incisor) on its way!

Pumpkin Patch #2

On October 19th V and I went to the pumpkin patch AGAIN. And she wore her monkey costume AGAIN. It was, however, a different pumpkin patch with a maze. AND we went with Jill, Ania, Jenny, and Eloise instead.

In the animal barn Eloise was happy to show Violet what she knew about animals...
Eloise: Tap, Tap, Taps V on the shoulder... waits until V looks at her... "Viowet... goat... goat"

When Ania and Jill got there we tried for a photo opp of all 3 of them. It did not go as planned. Turns out, it is VERY hard to take a photo of 3 babes looking at you all at once.

Violet was pleased to show everyone how happy she was to hang out with them.

We went through the ENTIRE maze with 2 VERY slow walking toddlers and one VERY, VERY heavy baby that had to be carried the whole way and did not want to ride in the Ergo... it was touch and go there for awhile, but we DID make it.

Goetz-fest - 10-10-10

It was 10-10-10, a pretty momentous day... and we went to Laurelhurst Park to Goetz-fest. It was a party sponsored by Jason and Libby so that everyone could enjoy sausages & Jason's newest beer and cider.

Violet patting Caspar (who slept through the ENTIRE party).

Violet and Wind, sharing a sausage. :)

Cirque (the sheep), Violet and Ania.

Violet and her sausage... yum!

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday Violet and I went to the Plumper Pumpkin Patch with our playgroup friends. We dressed all the babies up in costumes and took millions of photos. :)

Eagan (horse), Avery (gnome), Violet (monkey), Roxy (ladybug), Tyler (pumpkin), Claire (ballerina), Other Violet (ladybug)

Monkey suit... complete with tail! But the the cutest part is the fluffy cuddly monkey belly!

We took all the babies in wagons into the patch. My wagon was VERY heavy since it contained the two heaviest babies at the playgroup (the 2 Violets). But my wagon was also the happiest. They LOVED being in the wagon and being pulled around the bumpy fields.

My little tired monkey...

Violet and our pumpkins in the parking lot... on our way home.

We had a great time and I was surprised at how well Violet tolerated her costume.

Rainy Willie Nelson Concert

Saturday night Grandma, Grandpa, Violet, Wind, and I went to go see Willie Nelson at Edgefield. It had been raining all day and we were really hoping that it would clear up... Sadly, it did not.
We decided to be true to our Oregonian-ness and go anyway. We were prepared and brought tarps, ponchos, jackets, chairs, blankets, umbrellas, etc.

Violet wore Wind's old Marine Corps issue poncho (a little big on her, but worked) and her nylon sun hat. It turns out that it keeps the rain off pretty good. It was VERY wet, but also warm so as long as we kept her fairly dry it was no big deal.

In fact, she slept through almost the entire show... warm and mostly dry. :)

There was a surprising number of people who went and stayed the whole time! It looked a little like a shanty town.

Our tarp blanket... V is under it on her Grandma's lap.

When she woke up (at the end of the show, when I tried to move her) she did not look happy!

Watching Daddy Play Soccer - September 11th

We went to Wind's final futsal game of the season. Violet actually watched some of it! They lost, but played really well. It went into overtime and they lost in sudden death. Sad, but very exciting!

Gonna Pick Me A Lot of Peaches - August 28th

We went out to Sauvie Island to pick a bunch of peaches a few weeks ago so that I could make my peach freezer jam that Wind loves so much.
I carried her in the backpack and tried not to bump her head on the branches...

But she had more fun sitting in the grass when it was over than actually doing the work... but don't we all.

Violet plays XBox

She loves to push the control sticks and buttons and always looks up at the tv afterwards trying to see if she did anything. Pretty smart, I think.

Uncle, Cousin, Aunt.... Oh My - August 20th

Oreon, Kateri, and Lily came to visit last month. They live in DC, so it was a long trip for them and the time difference was a little tough, but it was nice to see them. It was Violet's first time meeting all of them and mine and Wind's first time meeting Lily. Violet thought Lily was really cool and spent a lot of time watching her crawl around and trying to grab her stuff. I think V was much more impressed by Lily then Lily was by her.
Granny came up to visit too. She was the most excited of all... getting to hang out with both of her granddaughters a once.

We hung out in the yard...

in the house...

 and at the rose gardens...

It is hard to believe they are related since they look so different, but there are definitely some similarities when you see them in person together.
Hopefully we will get to see them at least once every couple years, so the girls can hang out a little as they grow up.

Splash Pad

Violet has a baby playgroup that she belongs to. It is a bunch of people that she used to go to the New Mom's Group with. We haven't really gone much over the summer because Wind has been around for us to hang out with instead. :)
But they were going out to Blue Lake on the Columbia River a few weeks ago and Wind was busy, so we decided to join them.
We all met at the Splash Pad, which is a water feature thingy for kids to run through, sit in, and get sprayed by. Violet was not a big fan of being sprayed by water, but WAS a big fan (as always) of hanging out with the babies.

Violet & her friends, the OTHER Violet and Avery

Lyzz (the OTHER Violet's mom) and I think they look kind of similar anyway with their white skin and rolls, but they happen to have the same hat that day too, so it was way to cute to not take pictures and videos of it.

The twins... :)

Standing...

She can stand all alone. She needs to lean, but she can do it for quite awhile without tipping over... one handed too!
